1. Our 18 Little Ones had their first visit to our school Library to borrow MT storybooks!
I've made 18 little library cards before they are issued with their EZ-Link student passes.
Please note that the due date for these books is on 10th Feb.
Every Thursday reading time before assembly is allocated for the reading of MT story books.
2. We started on our '字宝宝' word card games. The little ones will have done very well with their word recognition games. Don't be alarmed if our little ones try to 'teach' their parents and play the game.
3. They have done very well for the Spelling Competition today. Most pupils are well prepared for the coming Spelling test on Monday.
4. We have covered b p m f, and d t. From the workbook and story reading session i had with them, and word card games, they also learnt how to ask
'What is that/this' ‘That/This is...'
(这/那 是什么? 这/是 。。。)

Spelling 1
Dear Pupils and Parents
We will be having Chinese Spelling on Tuesday (19 January).
I would be reading the vowel and pupils have to write down whether it is 'a,o,e,i,u,u with 2 dots on top' .
The English and Chinese words on the other 2 coloumns are for your reference only. Pupils are NOT REQUIRED to spell or write the words.
You can refer to the part I have highlighted in the spelling list.
Pupils who have not submitted their Spelling Exercise books (big squares) are to submit on Monday.
The Bugs Challenge
Dear pupils and parents
Here's some photos of one of the games we had in class this week.
Hi I'm ready to start! 我准备好了!
Chen Laoshi, is this the correct answer? 陈老师,这个答案正确吗?
Give me a 5!
I'm the fastest! 我最快!
We got the correct answer! 我们答对了!
Which bug should we catch? 哪里有害虫?
You are great! 你真棒!
(As I have to teach, facilitate, discipline at the same time, could only take few pictures. Apologies if your/your chid's pic is not captured.)

Week 2 learning report
It has been a good week.
1. We have challenged the bugs and cockroaches in a hanyu pinyin games!
(photos will be uploaded shortly)
2. All pupils in the class have mastered 'a' , 'o' and 'e' . Well done!
(refer to first 10 second of this video for the sound)
3. Some will need more practise of the four tones. (refer to video)
4. Everyone did well for the writing of 'a' , 'o' and 'e'.
5. We are learning how to sing 'xiao fei ji' (Little aeroplane).
6. Pupils have learnt how to put worksheets in the yellow folder.
7. We are moving to 'i' 'u' and 'u with 2 dots on top' (pronounced as yu) sorry the symbol is not available in this blog. (refer to
8. 'Cooperative Learning' is one of the key pedagogies engaged this week. Pupils have been tasked to be 'little teachers' and pupils learn how to praise others when they have done well by saying 'ni zhen bang' (你真棒!= you are great!)
My Reflections:
1.The class is getting to know one another better. It is a relatively small class of 18 and as much as possible, I get all pupils to try at least once for each game.
2. Emphasis has also been placed on class rules. With a traffic light on the board, pupils know when its time to listen attentively (red), when it is alrite to discuss (amber) and when it is time to play (green).
3. Boys and girls are happy children. They mix very well, and some dance spontaneously to the music.
4. I will be assigning buddies to each pupil so as to allow them to help and remind each other.
5. In order for pupils to practise and apply outside the classroom, I will need to seek parents' help.
Pupils will be doing 'I can read' cards. I would need parents to sign each time they try and praise your child if he/she reads correctly.
6. Voice recording of their reading will be carried out and uploaded in weeks to come.
Thank you.
